Yonglin delivers warm-hearted gift bags to care for thousands of elderly living alone, women, and children

Yonglin Foundation has long been dedicated to caring for vulnerable groups in society. For many years, during the cold winter months, it has provided winter blankets, warm clothing, and other supplies to help economically disadvantaged elderly people living alone, women, and children. This initiative ensures that tens of thousands of vulnerable families can feel the warmth and care of society during the year-end season. This year, the Yonglin Foundation worked with local small and medium-sized service organizations to assess needs and learned that many struggling families, especially during the year-end period, urgently require essential goods and daily necessities. Since household needs vary, the foundation specially designed the "Yonglin Heartwarming Gift Bag," which includes a thousand-dollar welfare card and thermal socks, giving the recipients the flexibility and autonomy to make their own selections and helping improve their daily lives.

Yonglin Foundation's CEO, Gou Xiaoling, stated: "Yonglin has been running the winter warmth program for many years. This year, with the unusually warm winter, we worked with local service agencies to figure out which supplies would provide real, tangible assistance to vulnerable families. Therefore, the 'Yonglin Heartwarming Gift Bag' this year includes a thousand-dollar welfare card and thermal socks, allowing service agencies to help elderly people living alone, disadvantaged women, and children buy necessary items for the New Year festival, while also providing essential goods that are more suited to the specific needs of the recipients. This not only helps these families meet their basic needs but also allows them to maintain their dignity and independence."

Lin Jinxue, Executive Director of Ganlin Social Welfare Charity Foundation, shared: "At this time of year, many kind-hearted people offer their assistance, and what touched me deeply was that the Yonglin Foundation first contacted us to understand the needs of the cases we serve before offering the 'Yongling Heartwarming Gift Bag.' Many of the elderly people we care for suffer from chronic illnesses like high blood pressure or diabetes, or other serious conditions, and rely mainly on living subsidies and small private donations. Therefore, daily necessities are urgently needed."

Gao Meihui, Chairperson of the Taichung Wanqing Association, also mentioned: "We serve single mothers in vulnerable situations. Compared to other families, they carry a heavier financial burden in their daily lives. The welfare cards provided by Yongling Foundation allow these low-income single mothers to purchase essential goods like dish soap, cleaning supplies, and daily necessities, which helps alleviate their financial pressure."

The "Yonglin Heartwarming Gift Bag" also thoughtfully includes thermal socks that are warm, heat-resistant, alkali-resistant, anti-slip, and hygienic. The socks are made from towel fabric to enhance their warmth. Some of the socks were produced by the Maria Foundation through the "Merry Young® Happy Socks" program, which is made by young people with intellectual disabilities. Through their artwork, these youths weave their emotions into the socks, offering a way for them to express their feelings despite challenges in verbal communication.

This initiative also delivered love to the Taiwan Hope for Children Foundation, which serves children in remote areas across Taiwan. Despite having only four staff members, the foundation has managed over 90 after-school care programs for vulnerable children, benefiting more than 2,000 children. They commented: "During winter, the most needed item for the children is warm socks. The fun, heartwarming socks donated by Yongling Foundation have brought warmth and joy to the children."

Yonglin Foundation's CEO, Gou Xiaoling, also personally visited various organizations and individual cases across Northern, Central, and Southern Taiwan. Among those visited were Grandpa Hu, who suffers from leg weakness, and Grandma Zhou, who is blind. Both have been living alone for a long time and are unable to go outside. Social workers mentioned that the elderly people eagerly anticipate visits from meal delivery staff and social workers, as these visits provide an opportunity for social interaction. Especially during the New Year, Guo Xiaoling and the social work team made special visits to bring greetings and care. Both Grandpa Hu and Grandma Zhou expressed their joy, saying they were happy to have visitors, as it had been a long time since they experienced such lively interactions.

This year's winter warmth program by the Yonglin Foundation has provided "Yonglin Heartwarming Gift Bags" to over a thousand families and individuals. Yonglin believes that everyone can extend a hand to care for those around them, bringing a wave of warmth to the cold winter season.
