From Crisis to Care: Taiwan’s COVID Comeback

Why We Exist

When COVID-19 swept across the globe, Taiwan—like many nations—faced a critical turning point. At YongLin Foundation, we knew that time was not on our side. Our mission became clear: protect public health, support the medical system, and restore hope through swift, strategic action.

Strategy

We responded with a nationwide effort grounded in three core strategies:

• Vaccine Acquisition at Scale
Partnered with Hon Hai Technology Group and BioNTech to secure 5 million doses of the BNT vaccine during a global supply crunch— ensuring timely protection for people of all ages.

• Supply Distribution Where It Mattered Most
Donated tens of thousands of masks and essential medical supplies to frontline responders, hospitals, and local health authorities in Taipei and New Taipei City.

• Cross-Sector Collaboration
United corporate partners, healthcare providers, and government agencies to accelerate vaccination, promote public trust, and reinforce Taiwan’s resilience.

Areas of focus

BNT Vaccine Donation: Securing Access for All

In 2021, founder Mr. Terry Gou joined forces with Hon Hai to donate 5 million doses of BNT COVID-19 vaccines to Taiwan. The procurement filled a critical public health gap and provided a trusted option to increase vaccination across all age groups.

Protecting the Frontline: Supply Drives Across Taiwan

YongLin Foundation collaborated with Sharp Corporation and the YongLin School of Hope to distribute more than 10,000 units of pandemic supplies to hospitals, public health departments, and social welfare organizations.

Impact

  • 5 Million Doses Delivered

A historic donation worth over USD 175 million, significantly contributing to Taiwan’s pandemic response.

  • 90% First-Dose Coverage Achieved Helped Taiwan reach one of the highest vaccination rates in Asia by mid-2022, achieving critical herd immunity.

    Tangible Relief for Frontline Heroes

Provided essential supplies and support to medical teams, caregivers, and communities most at risk.
