Echoes of Taiwan: Music, Memory, and Modernity

Why We Exist

Art is the soul of a society—echoing its stories, its struggles, and its dreams. At YongLin Foundation, we believe that supporting artistic creation is not only about preserving the past, but about shaping the cultural identity of tomorrow. Our mission is to invest in Taiwan’s cultural content, nurture performing arts talent, and foster a lifelong appreciation for the beauty and meaning found in the arts.

  • Help expand cultural access through arts education and outreach

  • Enrich the quality of life through deeper public engagement with the arts

Areas of focus

“April Rain” – A New Milestone in Taiwanese Musical Theater

In 2007, the YongLin Foundation proudly supported the creation of April Rain, a Broadway-level Taiwanese musical performed in both Taiwanese and Hakka. Inspired by the life of Deng Yuxian, a pioneer of modern Taiwanese folk music, the production captures the heart of Taiwan’s cultural roots—blending true stories with original music and reimagined classics. It marked a turning point for Taiwan’s musical theater scene and showcased the power of homegrown creativity.

Backing Taiwan’s Performing Arts Companies

From contemporary ballet to experimental movement, we provide long-term support for Taiwan’s premier arts organizations, including:

  • Jazz Dance Theater

  • International Ballet Star Dance Company

  • Taiwan Extreme Physical Dance Company

  • National Grand Theater Company

Healing Through Art

Art is also a form of care. In partnership with He Huan Theater and the Sunshine Foundation, we support art therapy initiatives that help disadvantaged groups reclaim hope, dignity, and emotional expression through performance and creativity.
