In 2007, YongLin Foundation supported the creation of "April Rain", a rare Taiwanese musical with Broadway-level production standards. It is the first local musical in Taiwan performed in Taiwanese and Hakka dialects, marking a significant milestone in Taiwan's cultural landscape. The musical, which was toured across Taiwan, showcases true Taiwanese stories, songs, and emotions, blending traditional themes with innovative perspectives.
The production is inspired by the life of Deng Yuxian, a pioneer of modern Taiwanese folk music and the first person to promote local new ballads. By depicting his life story, the musical educates the public about the roots of Taiwan's music. The music of the show is primarily original, with classic works incorporated as material. It combines traditional and contemporary elements to create a unique piece of new-generation Taiwanese art.
