The Life-Challenger Association for People with Disabilities, with sixteen brave warriors, embarked on an extreme hand-cycle journey in California, USA, to challenge the limits of accessible cycling. Through this journey, they aim to spread their message globally, allowing more people to witness the courage of these life warriors. Today, Mayor Farrah N. Khan of Irvine, California, specially arranged to join the cycling event hosted by the Life-Challenger Association, where over a hundred Taiwanese hand-cycling warriors gathered. In addition to recalling the life miracles she witnessed in the US, she hopes to learn from the Life-Challenger Association's efforts in Taiwan to promote hand-cycling aids and help more individuals with disabilities step out of the darkness and embrace hope.
Guo Xiaoling, Executive Director of the Yongling Foundation, stated, "Yongling is supporting the Life-Challenger warriors on their journey to the US for the 'Accessible Cycling Sports and Cultural Exchange Activities.' Each of them faces unique physical and mental challenges, yet they share a common belief: no matter the difficulty, they must push beyond their limits and keep going. This extreme physical journey will be an unforgettable experience and a stage for them to showcase their strength. This trip is not only a challenge to their personal courage but also a global demonstration of their determination and perseverance, encouraging more people to face life's challenges boldly. Face challenges, move forward bravely, and become a better version of yourself! The Life-Challenger Association has also provided 10 high-tech hand-cycles to their US partners, allowing hand-cycle enthusiasts worldwide to experience accessible cycling with new technology, spreading love and extending dreams."
Founder of Life-Challenger, Dr. Chen Qifeng, and his wife, Song Lirong, both polio survivors, deeply understand the long-term impact of mobility challenges, which can lead to physical and mental regression and increase the risk of depression. Therefore, they are committed to encouraging individuals with disabilities to get outdoors and pursue their dreams of cycling. They aim to provide rehabilitation through hand-cycling, replacing cold hospital rehab equipment with the healing power of nature, fitness, and cycling.
This American journey included desert cycling and snow expeditions, requiring participants to demonstrate immense courage and perseverance. They explored rugged mountains and remote islands, facing countless turns and slopes, pushing forward with their hands, cycling into the wind, and sharing the spirit of "CRPD Courageous Voyage, Refined Excellence" and life education.
In addition, Life-Challenger pioneered the "High-Tech Hand-Cycle" international exchange program, partnering with the BCI Cycling Team in California as a sister organization. They have also deployed 10 "High-Tech Hand-Cycles" in California for global hand-cycle enthusiasts to use, creating a long-term platform for exchange among individuals with disabilities. The association also plans to introduce accessible hand-cycling to Kinmen Island, collaborating with the Kinmen Cycling Story Museum to promote sports, culture, and accessible life education in rural areas, creating a sustainable health cycling legacy.
Ms. Hsin Ying Tseng, the founder's wife, made a special visit to Miaoli to meet 12-year-old table tennis prodigy, Li Renyue. The young girl picked up the paddle and her eyes were filled with determination and fighting spirit!
The event created a shared space for both children and individuals with disabilities to play and learn together, providing an inclusive and joyful environment for everyone.
